Fernandina Beach, Florida— Chesapeake Utilities Corporation (NYSE: CPK) (“Chesapeake Utilities”), a diversified energy company headquartered in Dover, Delaware, will ring The Closing Bell® on March 9, 2016 at the New York Stock Exchange. Ralph J. Adkins, Chair Emeritus and former Chair and Chief Executive Officer, will join the Company’s executive leadership team to celebrate his more than 50 years of service to Chesapeake Utilities and its stockholders.
“Ralph’s commitment to advancing the Company through strategic development and diversification has resulted in substantial growth,” says Jeffry Householder, president of Florida Public Utilities, a subsidiary of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. “He led Chesapeake’s initial move into the Florida natural gas market with the acquisition of Central Florida Gas in 1985, followed by Plant City Gas in 1988. Ralph guided the development of our Florida propane business. He was Board Chairman when the FPU acquisition was completed. Our continued commitment to Florida and its communities is embedded in Ralph’s tenure.”
Mr. Adkins served as Chair of the Chesapeake Utilities Board of Directors for 18 years, as a director for 26 years, and as an employee for approximately 40 years. During his remarkable service and leadership, the Company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in 1993 with a market capitalization of $55 million. As of close of business Friday, March 4, 2016, the Company’s market capitalization was $912 million.
