FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rotary Donates Defibrillators to Wolfson Children’s Hospital to Help Nassau County Children

Last March the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise held an International Wine Tasting event to raise funds for Wolfson Children’s Hospital, a non-profit organization. Recognized year after year as one of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report , 199-bed* Wolfson Children’s Hospital is the only full-service tertiary hospital for children in the region, serving North Florida, South Georgia and beyond. In FY13, over 75.3% of Nassau County children requiring hospital care are treated at Wolfson Children’s. On the hospital’s wish list is defibrillators and the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise was able to purchase three of the machines with the proceeds from the fundraiser. This week members of the club presented a check to Wolfson Children’s for the defibrillators. And celebrating with the club members were Fernandina Beach residents Sean and Tiffany McGill with their son, Lucas, who was successfully treated at Wolfson Children’s. The Wine Tasting event was an overwhelming success due in part to the support the club received from its many sponsors including among others: Florida Public Utilities Company, Amelia Liquors, and The Palace Saloon. Pictured here are members of the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise: Mark Cutshaw, president, Mark Dennis, past president, Christal Fish, past president, Dave Dully, Event Chair, and Art Shuster, past president, along with the McGills and presenting a check for $43,664.40, to Michael Aubin, Wolfson Children’s Hospital President and Candice Ramesar, Director of Emergency Services, Theresa Pye, Peds Educator, and Diane Givens, Assistant Nurse Manager.
